Who are you?

We are a team of senior mechanical engineering majors at Drexel University graduating in 2021. You can read more about us on our Stories page.

What is this? Why did you put this together?

As part of an ABET-accredited institution, senior engineering majors at Drexel University are required to complete a senior design project. Quan was inspired to create an outreach program, specifically for underrepresented groups in STEM, and reached out to our advisor, Dr. Atchison. The summer before our senior year, we all found each other and combined our passions for engineering outreach to create these modules. While our college education has been in mechanical engineering, the best way to assess your knowledge is to teach someone else! We hope educators, parents, and students find our modules and the information here useful. We also hope future Drexel engineers choose to follow similar project paths. There are so many aspects of mechanical engineering, and engineering in general, that could be made into fantastic lessons that inspire future generations of engineers and scientists.

Why did you guys choose to go to Drexel?

Quan: My sister went to Drexel. It's also pretty close to home to commute and the co-ops were a huge plus.

Rasheem: As a Philly native, Drexel was close and offered many scholarships. I was also interested in the co-op program.

Fausto: I got a full ride.

Kristina: Drexel offered me the most opportunity and the most amount of scholarship. When I attended an Accepted Student's Day, I knew it was the right place.

What are some cool experiences you've had at college?

Quan: While working in the library, I found an older version of our textbook and my friends dubbed it "The Sacred Book". It became our lucky charm for that class.

Rasheem: Spent the whole night working on a thermodynamics project and we stayed so late that the library almost locked my team in.

Fausto: Got to research thermal fluids through the Hess Honors Program.

Kristina: My roommate and I spent an afternoon exploring the city. We went to Edgar Allan Poe's house and then got dinner in Chinatown.
